The film, directed by Adam McKay, boasts an all star cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothée Chalamet, Jonah Hill, Meryl Streep and Ron Perlman

The trailer itself is full of humour but also gives a terrifying insight into how people might react if an asteroid would be heading to earth. Let's be honest, we would get some great Twitter memes while waiting for the world to end.

DiCaprio and Lawrence play two scientists who discover that a giant "planet-killer" comet is heading straight for earth. The worst part is that, despite overwhelming evidence, nobody, including the US President, seems to be taking them seriously.

The trailer shows off the incredible cast. Aside from those already listed, we also see musicians Ariana Grande and Kid Cudi in some scenes.

Adam McKay is known for using big, complex topics and showing them through the lens of dark comedy. 'The Big Short' and 'Vice' are too recent examples of this type of work.

It looks like 'Don't Look Up', despite being based on true events "that haven't happened yet", will continue on a similar vein.

'Don't Look Up' premieres on Netflix on December 24. There's no better way to get into the festive spirit then watching the end of the world!
