Although his name was associated briefly with Spider-Man a few years ago, Donald Glover's now lined up to make his Marvel debut sans the jumpsuit.

It's been confirmed that Glover will star in Spider-Man: Homecoming in an unspecified role, joining Tom Holland as Spidey and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. Glover was a part of an Internet campaign to have him take on the role of Miles Morales, the character who took over as Spider-Man from Peter Parker.

The character of Miles Morales was - as you'd expect - met with a huge amount of hostility online initially, but has since gone on to become one of the most popular characters in the Marvel canon. Details on Glover's role are, naturally, under lock-and-key, so nobody's really sure who he'll be playing.

With Tom Holland's Spider-Man being significantly younger than any previous iteration of the character, it's entirely possible that the characters in Homecoming may not have been previously seen outside of the comics.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is scheduled for July 7th, 2017 release.
