Dominic Monaghan has joined the cast of JJ Abrams' next instalment to the Star Wars franchise, the as-yet untitled 'Episode IX'.
While no details were given on what role Monaghan would be playing or how big or small it'll be, one thing everyone seemed happy to point out was that it was essentially a mini-reunion of 'Lost' creator Abrams and former Drive Shaft member and islander Charlie Pace.
In his statement confirming the news, Monaghan said that "the galaxy far far away has had almost as much influence as the one I live in, so I am delighted to be involved." Monaghan, of course, knows a thing or two about starring in major franchises, having starred in 'Lord Of The Rings' as Merry Brandybuck.
Monaghan joins fellow newcomers to the franchise Richard E. Grant (who isn't playing Thrawn sadly), Keri Russell, and Naomi Ackie.
'Star Wars: Episode IX' hits Irish cinemas in December 2019.
