Disney's live-action adaptations are continuing apace, and one that's being closely watched is Mulan - especially for its casting.

As reported earlier in the year, Disney said it planned to cast local, recognisable Asian actors for roles in Mulan and they've kept to their word, hiring Chinese star Liu Yufei in the title role. While Yufei may not be known terribly well on this side of the planet, she's a household name in China. Yufei starred in a number of television dramas throughout the '00s and turned up opposite Jackie Chan in 2008's The Forbidden Kingdom when she was a child actor.

The live-action adaptation is set for a 2019 release and has lined up Niki Caro as director. Whether or not there's any of the original songs in the film hasn't yet be decided, but somebody needs to make sure this gets a look-in somewhere along the way.
