Robert Rodriguez is a director who marches very much by the beat of his own drum, and you have to respect that about him. The gifted Texan helmer is next co-directing a full length adaptation of his Grindhouse trailer, Machete, with Danny Trejo in the lead role. Now, word from bloodydisgusting.com is that Robert DeNiro has joined the cast in the small role of 'Senator McLaughlin' while Michelle Rodriguez and Jonah Hill will also take parts in the action film. Rodriguez is coming off kiddie comedy, Shorts, and is producing a barrage of other projects, including the much mooted reboot Predators. I'm looking forward to seeing what the hugely innovative helmer does with this one.
