Two-time Oscar winner Daniel Day Lewis is in talks to replace Javier Bardem in Nine, the new musical from Chicago director Rob Marshall. Bardem pulled out of the film a few weeks back, citing exhaustion from continuously working and the pressure of the awards season. While The Weinstein Company are refusing to confirm any names, Variety is reporting that the Wicklow based actor is in advanced negotiations to play Guido Contini, a famous film director who experiences personal and creative crisis while trying to balance all the women in his life. Those women include Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz (anyone foresee any tension on set there?), Judi Dench and Marion Cotillard. While I personally can’t stand musicals, I think Day Lewis’s (possible) involvement would make a viewing mandatory.
