David Beckham can do many things very well- kick a ball with enough dexterity to earn millions, wear underpants well etc, etc- but can he act? Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass, X-Men: First Class) must think so as he has approached the recently retired footballer to star in his new movie The Secret Service; an American spy film adapted from a graphic novel of the same name.

The film already boasts names such as Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine. Speaking to The Sun, a source stated 'Becks was asked by Colin Firth if he'd like to be in the movie but he is yet to fully commit. He loves movies and fancies appearing on the big screen - but just as a one-off, not a full-time career.' Firth, Jackson and Caine won't have to worry about their careers being overtaken with what is sure to be the filmic debut of the decade then. Good lord.

What's more, Beckham is set to play a villain in the spy story. Will cat stroking and an eye patch be involved, or is that too much spy movie overlapping? One can only hope.
