With the 2018 World Cup having just wrapped up earlier this month, the timing couldn’t be better to release an action movie set in the heart of a football match. The film stars Dave Bautista and our own Pierce Brosnan (who you can spot serenading on the big screen in ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ at the mo) playing a Russian named Dimitri.

Bautista previously worked with the action thriller’s director, Scott Mann, in the film ‘Heist.’

The plot synopsis reads:

“A group of heavily armed criminals take control of a stadium packed with 35,000 football fans. Ex-soldier Michael Knox (Bautista) is forced to use skills from his military background and everything at his disposal to save the spectators, including the life of a fallen comrade's daughter.”

The movie is a Sky Cinema release, which earlier this year released the so-bad-it’s-good film ‘The Hurricane Heist’ and the just plain bad ‘Monster Family’ and ‘Anon’. Obviously, we’re hoping ‘Final Score’ will fit into the former rather than the latter category (after all, the CGI in some of those shots is seriously wanting).

Sky Cinema also have the film ‘Life Itself’ coming out this year, which looks like it’s vying for Oscars attention.

'Final Score' is released in cinemas and on Sky Cinema from September 7th.
