When it comes to casting comic-book villains, physicality plays a large part in who gets the role.
For example, you couldn't very well have a six-foot-ten actor play The Penguin, nor would it make sense to have someone like Jared Leto play Joker when he himself is a joke. Of course, just because an actor looks the part doesn't mean they should get the part.
Yet, for something like Dave Bautista and the character of Bane, this feels like a match made in heaven. For one, Dave Bautista looks like he could break any man's back with his knee. Not only that, but he's also got the presence on-screen to look like he could take on anyone, even someone like Batman.
On top of that, Bane's mask - in the comics, anyway - was based off a luchador wrestler's mask. Bautista was, as we all know, a professional wrestler before he switched to acting.
Unfortunately it’s not. Tried my best🤷🏻♂️ https://t.co/Dfn6UGzzlb

Sure, nobody denies for a second that Tom Hardy did a fantastic job in 'The Dark Knight Rises', but as comic-book villains get recast, Bane will have eventually be played by someone else - so why not it be Dave Bautista? Evidently, that's what he thought himself, as he revealed recently that he pitched himself to Warner Bros. for the role.
'The Batman' will feature of barrage of villains include Penguin, Catwoman, The Riddler, and Carmine Falcone, but evidently Bane was one villain too many for the cast.
Filming recently resumed on the movie, with a release date slated currently for October 1st, 2021.
