Dakota Fanning has signed on to replace Saoirse Ronan in the title role of "Effie", an Emma Thompson-scripted biopic about famed teenager Euphemia 'Effie' Gray, according to Deadline Hollywood.

The film will focus on Effie, who married famed London art critic John Ruskin (to be played by Greg Wise) in the 1850s. The marriage "turned out to be a disaster with Ruskin refusing to consummate it. Effie eventually turned her affections to Ruskin's protege John Everett Millais (up and coming totty Tom Sturridge). Sounds like another edgy role for Fanning, who was miscast in The Runaways, but gave it a decent bash anyway. Thompson is also slated to appear in a supporting role in the film.

We'll next see Fanning in Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1, while she also has roles in The Motel Life and Now is Good due.
