If you follow M. Night Shyamalan on Twitter, no doubt you'll have noticed that he and his daughter were recently in Ireland on a recce trip for a new film.

Ishana Night Shyamalan is set to make her directorial debut on a feature on new supernatural thriller 'The Watchers', which will be set in Ireland.

More details on the film have emerged, including the fact that Dakota Fanning has been cast in the lead role of Mina, an artist who becomes stranded in an huge, remote forest in the west of Ireland.

Suddenly, that picture makes more sense:

The synopsis for 'The Watchers' says: "When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers that are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night."

The 22-year-old Ishana had previously directed several episodes of her father's series 'Servant', but this will be her first film, with M. Night Shyamalan set to produce. She also wrote the script for 'The Watchers' - adapted from the 2021 novel by Irish author A.M. Shine, described as "A spine-chilling Irish horror adventure set in the remote unknown forests of Galway."

It's not yet known what part of Ireland that the father-daughter duo were scouting, but it looks like we'll be seeing more of them soon, anyway.

The film is due for release in June 2024.
