Tom Cruise is in line to play the President of the United States, alongside the ever excellent Denzel Washington in the thriller, 28th Amendment. Aussie director Philip Noyce (Clear and Present Danger) is set to direct the film about a massive conspiracy surrounding the running of America. Basically, Cruise’s Commander-In-Chief discovers that America has been run by a secret organisation since the Second World War (headed by Wasinghton), and the president is merely a smokescreen to distract the press. I really like the sounds of that, but it would’ve been a much braver production had they went ahead with it while Bush was still using America as his own personal squash court. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but both actors are thought to be very interested in their respective roles.
