How I Met Your Mother actress Cobie Smulders is apparently a frontrunner for a plum role in The Avengers movie.
According to Deadline.com, the actress is the favourite to land the part of Agent Maria Hill, linked to Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury and a ruthless member of S.H.I.E.L.D. In the comics she's a bit of a wily sort, and isn't above blackmailing the heroes.
The film is due to start shooting very soon, with Joss Whedon directing a starry cast. It's possibly the most highly anticipated production at the moment. No pressure then, Joss.
