With 'Barbie' smashing box office records around the world, it's safe to say that it's inevitable that there will be a sequel at some point.

And one actor has just put himself forward as an unlikely candidate.

'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' have been entwined forever thanks to the Barbenheimer phenomenon - when people saw the two very different films as a double bill - but there may be another unexpected crossover, if Cillian Murphy is serious.

When asked during a recent interview if he would be open to the possibility of playing a Ken in the sequel, the Irish actor laughed, and said "Sure, yeah. Let’s read the script, let’s have a conversation."

He added how he "can’t wait to see the movie. I think it’s great for cinema to get all these great movies happening this summer."

Both 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' have done phenomenally well at the global box office, while Irish cinemas have enjoyed the boost, too: two independent cinemas in Dublin and Galway just had their biggest weekends ever, thanks to Barbenheimer.
