After the surprise success of 'A Quiet Place', it seemed pretty likely that a sequel was going to happen.
After some to-and-fro over whether he'd direct, John Krasinski is now confirmed to return behind the camera, with Emily Blunt and her on-screen children, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe. However, Variety is now reporting that Cillian Murphy is set to join the cast as well.
'A Quiet Place' was both a critical and commercial success on its release last year. The movie picked up a 95% Rotten Tomatoes score, 4.5 stars from us, and made over $340 million worldwide on a production budget of somewhere between $17 and $20 million. Not only that, the script - which Krasinski co-wrote with Scott Beck and Bryan Woods - picked up a WGA nomination for Best Original Screenplay, whilst Blunt won a SAG Award for Best Supporting Actress.
The sequel is set for release on May 15th, 2020 and plot details are thin on the ground - as is information on what role Murphy will be playing, if he takes up the role. Murphy is best known for his role in 'Peaky Blinders', which is heading into its fifth season this year.
On top of that, Murphy has been a regular collaborator with Christopher Nolan, appearing in 'Inception', 'Dunkirk', and - of course - his 'Dark Knight' trilogy.
No air date has been confirmed for 'Peaky Blinders' Season 5.
