Chris Pine is a very busy man. I just did a story yesterday on how he had signed on to star in DJ Caruso's latest effort, but today's he's gone bigger. Paramount, the studio who funded Star Trek, have signed the actor on to appear as Jack Ryan in the latest film in the franchise started by Alec Baldwin, cemented with Harrison Ford and finished with Ben Affleck. Paramount bigwig Adam Goodman told Variety: "Tom Clancy created an unforgettable character with Jack Ryan. With Chris in this role, we've taken our first step in creating a re-boot that lives up to the successful lineage of the franchise." Sam Raimi was attached to helm at one point, but he's moved on to Spiderman 4, so a new director is currently being sought. I personally think they should give David Simon (creator of The Wire) a shitload of money and just see what he can do with it.
