Up-and-comer Tom Hardy, James Bond himself Daniel Craig, aftershave salesman Ewan McGregor and Mr. Forehead, Orlando Bloom, are apparently in contention for upcoming film adaptation of classic 1970's British series The Sweeney, according to One India by way of Darkhorizons.com.

Football Factory helmer Nick Love is attached to direct the film, which is based on the classic police series that starred John Thaw and Denis Waterman as two hard bastard cops fighting violent crime. Just how Orlando f**king Bloom fits into that world, in any way, is baffling to me. Unless of course he plays a hermaphrodite sidekick to one of the villains.

The film will have a mid-range budget of about $16 million, which instantly rules out Craig. Hardy is going to be huge, with Mad Max set to shoot soon; while McGregor is still capable of good things in the right role. Rumours before had Irish actor Michael Fassbender attached, which could have been excellent casting.
