For those of you looking to draw comparisons between the forthcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past and something else that was class from the annals of movie history, director Bryan Singer has done just that for you.

As per the prolific blockbuster director, Days of Future Past will leave somewhat of a The Usual Suspects aftertaste. In more than one way, he'll have you know.

“One structurally, and also in the way I’ve shot it, because I shot the future elements that take place in the future first.”

“Usual Suspects was this movie starring Kevin Spacey, Chazz Palminteri, Dan Hedaya, Giancarlo Esposito, and then they all left, and then a new group came - the suspects.”

“The same thing here - we had the X-Men of the future, all of them, all the actors I had worked with from the past all came, and then they left and a whole new group arrived, so you really feel like you’re making two very different movies” said Singer to IGN.

He continued: “There are 26 main characters, seven of them with a lot of restrictions in schedules,” continues Singer. “I wanted Evan Peters, I wanted all these actors but they all have these TV shows, which makes it really hard to schedule... The reason he was announced so late is that I didn’t want to announce the character until I had an actor. It took me so long to figure that out!”

So, does this whet your appetite for the next installment in the X-Men franchise even more? Or would you prefer if it resembed nothing at all?
