Well, what a week that was. After being offered the job of directing Ant-Man, Anchorman director Adam McKay turned it down due to scheduling conflicts. Now it's emerged that McKay will rewrite a significant amount of Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish's script instead of shooting the film.

That difficult task has been left up to Peyton Reed. What films did he direct, you may ask? Yes Man. That's the one with Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel. Bring It On. That one from the mid-2000's with Faith from Buffy and Kirsten Dunst.

Initial thoughts? This could very be well the first real dud from Marvel. Obviously, we haven't seen anything yet - but you've got to wonder about hiring a director just one week after the man who's been shepherding the project for almost ten years. Not only that, a number of other directors were sought and turned down the job before him.

In short, we're not hopeful. There's been a cloud over Ant-Man since Wright exited and fans will look upon this as used goods - constantly comparing it to what might have been had Wright gotten his way.
