Reynolds' is planning on taking a "little sabbatical" from acting after wrapping up production on his latest film.

Apple TV+'s comedy/musical 'Spirited' with Will Ferrell and Octavia Spencer has wrapped, according to their co-star on social media. However, it was a Blake Lively comment, which trolls her husband Ryan Reynolds, which has garnered more attention than his "sabbatical" announcement or that principal photography has wrapped.

The upcoming holiday film, based on Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol', is not due for release until 2022. Until we get a glimpse of the film in action, Reynolds posted a number of production shots from his time on set with the cast and crew. He also announced that he's taking a brief break from acting.

He wrote: "That’s a wrap for me on 'Spirited'. Not sure I’d have been ready to say yes to a film this challenging even three years ago.

"Singing, dancing and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a whole lotta dreams come true. And this is my second film with the great [Olivia Spencer - they previously starred in 'The Nines' together].

"Perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making. I’m gonna miss every second working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists. These days, kindness matters as much as talent. I’ve been lucky to work with folks who are flush with both."

Reynolds' co-star Octavia Spencer commented under the post: "You’re an amazing actor/singer and producer. I had a blast working with you, Will, and this outstanding cast and crew! Enjoy your downtime."

While his frenemy Hugh Jackman wrote: "IN!"

However, it was Blake Lively and her trolling of Ryan Reynolds that ended up getting the biggest response from those who spotted the post. Garnering over 12,000 likes for her comment, Lively responded to her husband underneath his post: "Michael Caine did it first."

Lively's double entendre is playing up to the fact that Michael Caine did indeed play Ebenezer Scrooge in 'The Muppets Christmas Carol' back in the '90s. But recently, the 88-year-old actor also came out to announce that no, unlike reports of him taking his own acting break, he's not retiring just yet.

The married couple, who met on the set of 'Green Lantern', have enjoyed trolling each other publicly on social media for quite some time, much to the joy of their fans. And now we wait and see what Reynolds responds with, once he's finished with his acting break.

'Spirited' will be released towards the end of 2022.
