The world needed a hero - it got Black Adam.

New line Cinema and Warner Bros.' 'Black Adam' gets its very first trailer today, introducing Dwayne Johnson into the DCEU fold for the first time.

The delayed action-adventure first released footage of the superhero flick waaaaay back in October of 2021 during the DC FanDome event that was held online (we also had our first look at 'Shazam 2' and 'The Flash'). But with a release date of October this year, it's about time our appetite was whet with a fresh look at the new superhero.

As you can see in the trailer below, the story goes: "Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world."

Johnson's recent collaborator, director Jaume Collet-Serra (whom he worked with on Disney's 'Jungle Cruise'), helms the latest entry in the DCEU, with Johnson also attached as one of the film's producers.

Joining Johnson for his first superhero film, which he previously said he was "born to play", will be Pierce Brosnan, who also makes his superhero debut as one of the good guys, Doctor Fate; Aldis Hodge ('One Night in Miami') will play Hawkman; Noah Centineo ('To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before') as Atom Smasher; Sarah Shahi ('Sex/Life') as Adrianna; Quintessa Swindell ('Voyagers') as Cyclone; and Bodhi Sabongui ('A Million Little Things') as Amon.

The hellish villain known as Sabbac is believed to be the big bad of the upcoming release, rumoured to be played by rising star Marwan Kenzari ('Murder on the Orient Express'), who stars as Ishmael. However, this first 'Black Adam' trailer doesn't dive into this aspect of the film just yet and is reserved for introducing the new superhero to audiences first.

Here's the trailer.

'Black Adam' hits cinemas on October 21.
