Bette Midler had previously been the only 'Hocus Pocus' star to give us any updates on a potential sequel. In recent months, the actress said: "We're trying to see who's available and who's still out there and still working and who can come back."
Well, it looks like they managed to get the gang back together. Disney has announced that Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy will join Bette Midler in 'Hocus Pocus 2'.
The three actresses played the charming but wicked Sanderson Sisters in the original 1993 movie.
Bette Midler returns as Winifred Sanderson. Sarah Jessica Parker of 'Sex and the City' fame and Kathy Najimy ('Sister Act') reprise their roles as Sarah and Mary.
We also have an official plot synopsis for 'Hocus Pocus 2'.
In the movie, three young women accidentally bring the Sanderson Sisters back to modern day Salem.
Now they must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the world.
Adam Shankman, who is currently shooting the 'Enchanted' sequel, 'Disenchanted', will no longer direct because of scheduling conflicts.
Rather, it'll be Anne Flethcher, whose credits include 'The Proposal' and '27 Dresses'.
Fletcher said: "Now more than ever, people need to laugh. We should be laughing every day, and there is so much fun to be had with these three unbelievable women playing delicious characters from such a beloved film.
"I am so grateful to be able to play a part in bringing these witches back to life, and to be working with my friends at Disney again makes it all the more special. This is a movie for everyone, from the fans who grew up with the first film to the next generation of viewers, and I can’t wait to get started."
Cameras start rolling on Bette Midler and co this autumn.
