And that's another win for oul Benny. 'Outsanding Directorial Achievement'? Fancy. We're getting rather bored of writing about his success at this stage; it'd be easier to just repeat the same story and replace the title of award. How many is that now? The Globes win, the PGA win, the Critics Choice Win, the SAG win... the list goes on. Well deserved acknowledgement, of course, given Argo's brilliance. Having beaten fellow nominees Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty), Tom Hooper (Les Misérables), Ang Lee (Life of Pi) and Steven Spielberg (Lincoln) all to the punch, we reckon the sting of being snubbed from the Best Director category at this month's Oscars must be a distant memory by now.

While he may have been left out in that category, the fact that Argo has beaten the aforementioned movies (which are all equally brilliant) makes the likelihood of it scooping the Best Film category at the world's most prestigious film awards.

Remaining as humble as ever, Affleck made the following quip in his acceptance speech: "I don't think this makes me a real director but I think I'm on my way."

Let's see how you fare come Oscar Sunday.
