Barry Keoghan's career continues on the up and up.

Just a week after being cast in Marvel movie 'The Eternals', Barry Keoghan has landed another major role.

He is set to play frontman of the Pogues Shane McGowan in an upcoming biopic.

According to the Irish Sun, McGowan himself approved the casting, saying:

“Barry is a marvellous actor and I couldn’t think of anyone better to do it.

“He’ll do a great job.”

The film will focus on Shane’s rising musical career and on his relationship with wife Victoria Mary Clarke.

Clarke described it as following:

"It's a love story, it’s not a Pogues film although that will obviously be a part. We’re both very excited.

"Shane is really excited about the idea, he thinks it’s fantastic.

"He’s already counting down the days until he can watch it on Netflix!"

She hinted at the young Irish actor's casting over on Twitter. When someone suggested that Barry should play Bob Dylan in his biopic, she quoted the tweet and replied: "Maybe @BarryKeoghan will be playing another living legend soon!!!"

Keoghan would be best-known for such films as 'Dunkirk' and 'The Killing of a Sacred Deer'.

For 'The Eternals', he'll star opposite the likes of Angelina Jolie, 'Game of Thrones' actors Kit Harrington and Richard Madden, and 'Crazy Rich Asians' star Gemma Chan.
