The increasingly busy Anne Hathaway has just joined the new big-screen adaptation of the musical Les Miserables, reports Darkhorizons via UPI.com.
Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman will both get to warble their way through the Tom Hooper directed musical which was previously turned into stage adaptation from Victor Hugo's novel in 1985. Jackman will play ex-con Jean Valjean, while Crowe the man pursuing him, Inspector Javert. Hathaway will take the lead female role of Fantine, and will get to mope a lot throughout the film.
Hooper turned down a chance to direct Iron Man 3 to take the helm of 'Miserables', so it's a bit of a passion project for the recent Oscar winning helmer of The Kings Speech. Hathaway is currently shooting The Dark Knight Rises and last starred in One Day.
