We love to love Anna Kendrick. And even though to us she'll always be Madame le 'Cup Song', she's moving onto a new challenge by making her directorial debut with 'The Dating Game'. The true crime thriller will also star the actor and it sounds like it could be a fairly juicy watch.

The flick is based on the experience of Cheryl Bradshaw in 1978 on the popular game show of the same name. Bradshaw's bid at romance turned into something of a horror story when the bachelor she chose to date, Rodney Alcala.

Bradshaw reportedly felt something was a bit off about him swiftly after the episode was taped. As it turned out, Alcala happened to be one of the biggest serial killers in America.

"I’ve loved this script from the moment I read it," Kendrick told Deadline. "And while I was obviously thrilled to be playing the character of Sheryl, I felt so connected to the story, the tone, and the themes around gender and intimacy, that when the opportunity came up to direct the film, I jumped at it.

The film is to be developed by Stuart Ford's AGC Studios and the script was written by Ian MacAllister McDonald. Kendrick has expressed true gratitude for the "support" they've given her, saying "it feels meant to be".

Of her directorial capabilities, Ford stated "Anna has such an innate feeling for the characters in this film and the tone of the movie, it makes absolute sense for her to step behind the camera and direct it and to back her vision for the film to move forward alongside our partners at BoulderLight and Vertigo".

True crime media is pretty sexy right now, so we're certain this is going to hit the ground running, especially with such strength behind it. It'll be a treat to see Kendrick on the big screen again, especially since we're pretty sure her last gig was in a 'Trolls' movie, right?
