Now that his stunt on 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' is out of the bag, all eyes are on the English star to see whether he will return for a third solo outing as the wall crawler.

Could we see Andrew Garfield return as Spider-Man once again in the future? It's not looking likely, according to the 38-year-old.

The second actor to play the titular comic book superhero in both of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' films, he recently reprised his role in Tom Holland's 'No Way Home' last December alongside Tobey Maguire.

Both stars' appearances sparked a flurry of joy from fans of the franchise, especially Garfield's Peter Parker, who delivered a thoroughly touching performance given his heartache last time we saw him. Speculation then hit fever-pitch that Garfield could be on the cards to return for a third solo entry in the 'Amazing' series.

However, it doesn't seem likely. Speaking to Variety at the SAG Awards this past Sunday, Garfield admitted there are "no plans" to wear his Spidey suit one last time. He said: "No plans, that's the truth. I mean, everyone's gonna call me a liar for the rest of my life.

"I am the boy who cried wolf now."

All last year, the 'Tick, Tick... Boom!' actor famously had to dodge a constant bombardment of questions about whether or not he was involved in 'No Way Home'. During the filming of the Marvel/Sony production, set photos were leaked of himself and Maguire teaming up with Holland for the film, which Garfield told Jimmy Fallon were "a photoshop". He also admitted to lying to his 'Amazing Spider-Man' co-star Emma Stone about his involvement.

After he was seen on screen in Tom Holland's third Spidey outing, Garfield said he is "definitely open" to picking up those web-shooters for one final time if the story made sense.

So, will Andrew Garfield ever return as Spider-Man? We're going to stay optimistic - anything can happen in the MCU after all.
