Paul WS Anderson has announced that his next project will be a disaster. Well, a film about the Pompeii disaster, actually. Before you get too excited about the guy who made There Will Be Blood tackling such an historic event, notice the 'S'. No, this isn't the Paul W Anderson who made Boogie Nights and Magnolia, but the Paul WS Anderson who made Resident Evil, Alien vs. Predator and Death Race. A film about the ancient Roman city's annihilation by Mount Vesuvius has long been talked about in Hollywood circles, with Ridley Scott and Roman Polanski both showing interest at some point but it seems that Anderson is likely to get his project off the ground first and shooting is expected to commence in early 2012. It remain to be seen if Anderson's wife and frequent collaborator Milla Jovovich will be involved, but we're betting she will.
