Documentary makers who have travelled from San Francisco to Kerry are looking for someone to star in their latest movie.

Superstardom could well await the lucky farmer, whoever they may be, as they will be the focus of the documentary that will follow them everywhere, "including at work, home, Mass, and relaxing over a few pints at the local", according to The Irish Examiner.

The final product will be a fly-on-the-wall documentary made by Mike Sugrue, and the project is based on his own experience: "This film is intensely personal for me. My father’s family is from nearby Waterville in Kerry. I want to tell this story to shine a light on a way of life, type of work ethic and attitude towards life that I’m extremely proud of. It’ll be the story of how one rural sheep farmer perseveres financially and thrives socially, despite harsh conditions and isolation."

The lucky candidate will be compensated for their time, apparently, as the whole process will be very intrusive for the three weeks or so that the crew from San Francisco-based Emily Miller Productions will be filming. The crew have apparently already come across a few contenders since they arrived last weekend, once again showing that Kerry has no shortage of characters, but they have a "particular character" in mind for the role.
