The legendary Al Pacino has finally decided that he's old enough to play King Lear, after years of waxing lyrical about how it was his dream part. Pacino has done Shakespeare before, in both The Merchant of Venice and Looking for Richard, and will reteam with his 'Venice' director Michael Radford for 'Lear'. For those who blocked out all memories of Shakespeare after leaving school, 'Lear' is about a King (surprisingly enough) who is trying to figure out a way of splitting his kingdom and whatnot amongst his three daughters. Two daughters basically kiss his arse, but his youngest doesn't pander, so he banishes the crap out of her - but is then desperately unhappy. Hey, you live by the sword and all that... Film will shoot on location in Europe, with further cast details yet to be announced.
