The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog, has added a name to the Superman helming list, while also making me feel quite smug by pointing out that Ben Affleck took a meeting about directing the movie.
After The Town opened to critical plaudits and excellent box-office, Warner Bros. asked their latest directorial jewel in the crown, Affleck, to consider helming - which he did, but then apparently passed on. I mentioned, purely a guess, that Affleck should be considered given the studio and obvious directing chops. Alas, this piece isn’t just for me to gloat; but to throw another name in the hat - stand up Darren Aronofsky. The helmer of The Wrestler and the upcoming Black Swan, is now considered the favourite to take the director's chair, and is in "active discussions" with the studio, according to Heat Vision.
For those keeping track, the names now being linked are as follows; Duncan Jones (Moon), Jonathan Liebesman (alien invasion flick Battle: Los Angeles), Matt Reeves (Cloverfield), while Tony Scott and Zack Snyder are also still on the list.
