Excerpts of the third Bridget Jones novel, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, were debuted in the UK's Sunday Times today. Author Helen Fielding has indicated that the novel will be released on October 10th. Working Title Films, the studio behind the two previous Bridget Jones films, have said they were working off a script unrelated to Fielding's book, titled 'Bridget Jones's Baby'.

However, that project had stalled as Hugh Grant had said he wasn't happy with the script. Likewise, Colin Firth has stated it would be a long time before anything concrete happens with it. Considering as well (SPOILERS!) that his character, Mark D'Arcy, is to be killed off in the third book, we can't imagine Firth having a huge role in the eventual film adaptation.

The third book will focus on Bridget, now a 51-year old widower, and her relationship with a 30-year old toyboy she's met on Twitter. Calling it now - James McAvoy for the toyboy role while he's still young.
