A new deleted scene from ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ which involves the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ characters has been unveiled. The scene was initially shown to fans at San Diego Comic-Con and then released by EW.

The scene takes place after Baby Groot and Rocket have left with Thor while the remaining Guardians face the aftermath of Gamora being taken away by Thanos.

Still in their ship in the outlaw realm of Knowhere, Drax has had enough and he confronts Star-Lord, aka Peter Quill, about his beloved playlist, which eventually leads to conflict.

They are interrupted by Mantis, who brings a ‘blinking yellow light’ to Quill’s attention. It signals they have been sent an important coded message.

Marvel Studios clearly decided early enough to not include the segment, as evidenced from the absence of the song they’re talking about (Ace Frehley’s 1978 cover of ‘New York Groove’), and some of the CGI effects are incomplete. It’s still an interesting addition.

The scene forms part of the ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ home entertainment release. The movie debuts on digital July 31 and on Blu-ray Aug. 14.

The unveiling comes in the wake of the director of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movies, James Gunn, being fired from the superheroes’ third outing. A number of the cast members took to Twitter to voice their support of Gunn and indignation at the news.
