Julius and Vincent Benedict have found their other long lost sibling for the comedy sequel movie - it only took them 33 years.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito will add a new sibling to their growing family - Tracy Morgan will join the actors for 'Twins' sequel, 'Triplets'.
With Schwarzenegger and DeVito aged 74 and 76 respectively, it's quite the push to suggest that Morgan at the age of 52 could be some sort of long-lost triplet. Heck, let's just go with it, it sounds like a hoot.
The idea for a 'Twins' sequel originally stemmed from another comedy actor, Eddie Murphy. You might remember back in 2018 that the actor was confirmed to be playing the third sibling - a rumour that was churning around Hollywood since 2012.
All went quiet on the project until a year later in 2019 when Schwarzenegger said in an interview that original 'Twins' director/producer Ivan Reitman was "dragging his feet" as the script was coming together. It seems that Murphy, who was already developing the critically-panned 'Coming 2 America', stepped away from the role. Reports suggest that the filming schedule for the fourth 'Beverly Hills Cop' clashed with 'Triplets'.
Tracy Morgan is best known for his stand-up comedy act, as well as his eight years as a cast member on 'Saturday Night Live', and the Tina Fey sitcom based on said show, '30 Rock'.
Speaking exclusively with Deadline about 'Triplets', director and producer Ivan Reitman of the upcoming sequel gave a rundown of what to expect from the comedy movie: "Secretly, there was a third baby born, a black baby, who hasn’t been in touch with his siblings.
"They don’t know each other and very early in the movie they meet and it’s how they achieve a bond together after all these years. It’s really a film about family and, no matter how different we all are, we have to learn to get along. These guys have great chemistry together, and you can see that in the reel, and how much energy they bring out in each other."
He also told the publication that it was Schwarzenegger who twisted his arm to return to directing. He added: "I haven’t directed in a couple years, but Arnold kept saying, 'c’mon, we had such a great time.' I just called him in Budapest and he’s so excited to see how people respond to the reel as we send it out. The initial reaction has been very strong, and how young Arnold and Danny look and how great the chemistry is with Tracy. I had a great time doing the first one, and this is going to be fun."
Reitman produced the upcoming 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife', stepping away from directing for his son Jason to take the helm of the legacy sequel, which hits cinemas on November 12.
