A whole heap of updates have been given for the Marvel Cinematic Universe calendar this year.
Some announcements pertain to cinematic releases. Others relate to Marvel series that are headed to Disney+.
President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige offered a breakdown of the studio's plans at a recent Disney/TCA session.
First up on Disney+, 'Wandavision' season one concludes on March. 'Falcon and the Winter Soldier' debuts on March 19th, running for six episodes up to April 23rd, as long as Disney doesn't skip any weeks.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe release that is to follow is 'Black Widow', due to hit cinemas on May 7th. There is still uncertainty as to whether cinemas around the globe will be open at that point. Thus a decision will be made by Disney about its release in the next month or so.
'Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings' is slated for a cinematic release on July 9th. There's a possibility that 'Black Widow' could take this slot.
As for other Marvel Cinematic Universe cinema releases, 'Eternals' arrives on November 5th. Recently named threequel 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' hits theatres on December 17th.
Excitingly, the much-anticipated series 'Loki' has finally for a release date. It will drop on Disney+ on June 11th.
Animated Marvel series 'What if?' will follow.
Currently shooting are the series 'Ms. Marvel' and 'Hawkeye.'
'She-Hulk' kicks off production in a few weeks. A week or so later, 'Moon Night' commences filming.
While it was not revealed whether 'Wandavision' will get a second season, we do now know that its first season will feed directly into the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel 'Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness'.
The same goes for 'Ms. Marvel', which will apparently then lead into 'Captain Marvel 2', which is set to hit cinemas November 11th, 2022.
Other 2022 big screen releases include 'Thor: Love and Thunder' (May 6th) and 'Black Panther 2' (July 8th).
