Those who were hoping to see Andrew Garfield take on the alias of Peter Parker once more might be disappointed...

It looks like Garfield will not be starring in the upcoming 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' after all (or so he says...).

Previously it was rumoured that a whole bunch of stars who'd starred in previous 'Spider-Man' movies would be popping up in the latest following the webslinger.

Aside from the current Spidey Tom Holland, it was said that Garfield, Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Alfred Molina as Doc Ock, and Jamie Foxx as Electro would appear in 'No Way Home'.

Garfield was asked about his involvement with the next Spider-Man outing in an interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

Horowitz tried to be subtle, saying "I don't even want to bring up the Spider-Man stuff, because obviously I don't want to ruin anything if there is something to ruin."

However, Garfield cut him off, saying "there isn't anything to ruin."

The actor said he found the whole thing "hilarious", explaining: "Dude, it's f***ing hilarious to me, because it's like -- because I do have this Twitter account and I see like how often Spider-Man is trending and it's like people freaking out about a thing.

"And I'm just like 'Guys… guys, guys, guys, like, I wish I could just be able to speak to everyone and say… I recommend that you chill."

He claimed Marvel studios has not contacted him, saying: Listen, I can't speak for anything else apart from myself… They might be doing something but I ain't got a call."

Andrew Garfield continued: "You know what it feels like though? It feels like -- because this hasn't come up yet in an interview, but like… You know that game [Werewolf or Mafia]? And I think it's kinda similar where it's like you're convincing everyone that you're not in the mafia…

"Like I feel like I'm in a game of fing Werewolf or Mafia where I'm like I'm not the werewolf. I promise you I am not the werewolf. And everyone's like 'You're the werewolf, you're the fing werewolf.'"

The actor's last words on the matter were: "I did not get a call… I would've gotten a call by now."

The interview also comes a number of weeks after Tom Holland denied Garfield or Maguire's involvement in the movie.

'Spider-Man: No Way Home' is set to hit cinemas on December 17, 2021.
