The actor is trading in his Quicksilver outfit for a more barbaric, bare-chested and villainous role.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson will star as Kraven the Hunter in Sony's continued expansion of their empire of villains.

We've already seen Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the MCU, as the actor starred as Quicksilver in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'. Sadly, the character didn't hang around very long and was killed off in the same movie.

However, at least we know Johnson will most definitely be keeping his Russian/Sokovian accent for his new venture as Kraven. And we can probably also expect some level of leopard print to make it onto his costume too.

Sergei Kravinoff AKA Kraven the Hunter was created by the late Stan Lee and his partner Steve Ditko. He is originally from a Russian aristocratic background and was introduced as a Spider-Man villain in the comics in 1964.

Given his name, Kraven regards himself as quite the marksman, and his ultimate goal is to catch the wallcrawler to prove he's the world's best hunter. Slightly deranged (arent they all?), his special abilities include being a skilled tactician, an expert when it comes to hand to hand combat, and an instinct that rival's Peter Parker's Spider-Sense. Oh, and he also gained said incredible sense, speed, and strength after drinking a potion from a Voodoo witch, so there's that also.

'Kraven the Hunter' will be directed by J.C. Chandor, whose back catalogue includes the Ben Affleck action film 'Triple Frontier'. The movie is scheduled to be released on January 13, 2023.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven the Hunter is the latest outing from Sony which will follow some of Spider-Man's biggest foes. Due to be released later this year is 'Venom: Let There be Carnage', while Jared Leto's 'Morbius' is scheduled for a January 2022 release date. The third entry in Tom Holland's 'Spider-Man' franchise hits theatres this December.
