I wandered around for a while trying to get someone to talk to me. I watched with quiet embarrassment as groups banded together ready to take on the world. No, I'm not talking about my first day at school - this week, I entered the 'World of Warcraft'.

Not since my days as a wee nipper have I felt so totally inadequate. For anyone over the age of thirty, this is essentially D&D and has all of the setbacks that D&D had - i.e. the players!

Having said that, once I got over the humiliation of only being a Level 1 Paladin, I did struggle with the basic mechanics, i.e. 'How the f%*k do you play the game?!' It took me a while, but I figured it out. In the beginning, just ignore the other players. They will run around mashing heads and the like, completely ignoring you, but don't despair - you cannot join groups until you are Level 4! Oh God! Get through the first few levels by right-clicking dudes with '!' over their heads, level up, and as you do the whole world opens up.

If you are a fan of RPG this is great stuff.. as long as you ignore all the assholes.
