At long last, the rumours and campaigns have been confirmed.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, arguably one of the first-person shooters in gaming history, is getting remastered for current-gen consoles. Oh, and there's a new Call of Duty game set in space. That too.

The first trailer, which launched today, shows players in a far-flung future where Earth is attacked by the Settlement Defence Front, a band of rogue terrorists who - if what we're getting from the trailer is correct - live on the Moon. As well as your standard first-person shooter experience, it also looks like you'll be able to control starfighters.

Whether or not that bleeds into the multiplayer experience or if it's just a single-player mission is uncertain as no firm details have been announced at this early date. All we know for certain is that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is getting a HD remastering and we're very, very, VERY excited about that prospect.

Right, that's enough filler. Here's the trailer.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is scheduled for November 4th release across Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC formats. It's highly unlikely that the game will be ported to the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, but stranger things have happened.

Are we excited? Let us know in the comments!
