Fighting games are a perfect way to solve pub debates - who would win in a fight between Batman or Shaggy from 'Scooby-Doo?'

Warner Brothers hope to provide an answer to this age-old question with their name game 'Multiversus', which is due to debut in 2022.

Using characters from Warner Brothers vast library of characters, the game appears to be Warner Brothers throwing their hat into the fighting game ring,

Nintendo's 'Super Smash Brothers' series is going as strong as ever and celebrity fighters are frequently added into 'Mortal Kombat', so it makes sense for Warner Brothers to get in on the action.

The game is a cartoony affair, so don't expect to see anything graphic like Harley Quinn reducing Finn from 'Adventure Time' to bloody giblets.

'Multiversus' is "built around co-operative play" and will allow a player and a friend to take on their rivals together.

In the gameplay video we see Batman deploying a smoke bomb to get his team mate out of a tight spot.

Developers Player First Games claim the game will feature "best in class" connectivity and will have dedicated servers for the entirety of the game's lifespan.

In addition, the game will free-to-play and will support cross-play with other consoles.

Bugs Bunny versus Batman - place your bets!

Characters include Batman (voiced by Kevin Conroy), Shaggy (Matthew Lillard), Superman, Bugs Bunny, Harley Quinn, Tom & Jerry, Finn and Jake from ''Adventure Time', Arya from 'Game of Thrones' (Maisie Williams), Steven and Garnet from 'Steven Universe' with more to be added over time.

Considering how sprawling and diverse the Warner Brothers are, it's possible for the cast of 'Westworld' to show up at some stage facing off against Freddy Krueger and Pennywise the Clown.

The game plans to launch in 2022 on multiple platforms and players can sign up for playtests to offer feedback on the games website.
