Oh God, here comes another controversial review: I am warning you now I am not giving this 5/5. It may not even get 4/5. Unreal Tournament is the game that very nearly cost me my Leaving Cert., as it was the first arena style shooter I took a shine to. I wasn't mad on Quake 3, but loved the playability of the bots in Unreal. It was mayhem and it was fun.

In my humble opinion, however, Unreal Tournment 3 doesn't hold a candle to its predecessor. Yes, it looks better; yes, there is now a storyline, and okay, the weapons are great - but therein also lies the problem. There is a story and it's weak; there are great weapons, but there are almost too many of them. Had they kept it simple and not included a fairly weak story that barely links you between battles, I think I would have liked it more. It's a good game - I just can't help feeling like it's pretending to be something it's not.

And they committed a cardinal sin, too - there is no offline multiplayer. If you want a good single player FPS, or even a bit of craic with your mates, this will not suit you. This really is for online players only.
