The original H.A.W.X. was an enjoyable if shallow arcade shooter best played in short bursts. It's sequel is essential more of the same albeit with fancier graphics, improved AI and a few new tricks. This time round would be pilots can fly drones, operate turrets and even land on an air-craft carrier (strangely the first game didn't allow players to land or take off at all).

The game has plenty of references to characters and events in other recent Tom Clancy games which add somewhat to an otherwise muddled plot about terrorists or preventing WWIII. As with the original, satellite imagery is used to render the in-game locales and while everything looks really impressive at five thousand feet things get a little blocky upclose i.e. right before a crash.

Players can re-fly completed missions using different planes, or better yet, take part in a survival mode with their online friends. Fans of the first game will be pleased with what's here and H.A.W.X. 2 might even win over a few gamers sick of derivative shooters.
