In case you didn't already know, we loved The Last Of Us when it hit the PS3 last year. Not only was our review a gushing love-letter to its greatness, but we also named it our Best Game Of 2013. So yes, in short, we really liked The Last Of Us, so when it was announced that there was going to be more of The Last Of Us, obviously we went a bit nuts with excitement.

Left Behind is the first, and will be the last, addition to the current The Last Of Us universe (there are rumours of TLOS getting ported over for PS4, as well as grumblings of a sequel, but it's still all up in the air right now), so if you're jonesing for another fix in the series, then this is the only place you're gonna get it. But, for the sake of getting the bad stuff out of the way first, it is quite short. Like, depending on how thorough you are on your playthroughs, somewhere between 2 and 3 hours short. So prepare yourself for possibly finishing it on your first sit-down session with it.

Now, on to the good stuff! The story splits between two periods in Ellie's life, the first filling in a blank of the original game, with Ellie tending to an injured Joel in an abandoned shopping mall. The second takes place before the events of the original game, with Ellie woken by her friend Riley, and the two going on a mini-adventure through, yes, you guessed it, an abandoned shopping mall. Filling in some history on Ellie's character, going some way to explaining why she is the way she is in the game we played previously, this is more genius and creative storytelling from the game's makers.

Everything you loved about the original game is mostly back, with some tweaks to the combat system - as Ellie is significantly less powerful than Joel, and not quite the same level of handy when it comes to making makeshift items, fights need to be avoided more often than night - as well as the ever present astounding visuals, peerless sound design, and foreboding, at times terrifying atmosphere.

If you're a fan of The Last Of Us, there is legitimately no reason not to buy these precious few hours extra with these characters we've grown to know and love. Yes, it's short and sweet, but when it's this good, we'll take whatever we can get.
