Fans hoping for Sucker Punch to revisit the 'Infamous' or 'Sly Cooper' games have been dealt a blow after the developers said they have "no plans" to revisit their hit franchise.
With user-generated content for 2011's 'Infamous 2' winding down, Sucker Punch took the time to announce that the superhero franchise, along with 'Sly Cooper', are dormant for the time being.
“With our focus on our current project, we have no plans to revisit Infamous or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either," the developers said.
“These characters are very special and near and dear to our hearts, so while we’d never say never to re-opening those doors down the road, for now, there are no Infamous or Sly Cooper games in development.”
They added "we're not ready to talk about whatever might be next, but we hope you’ll keep following us whenever we’re ready to share more."
The 'Infamous' franchise was a hit for the PlayStation 3, with the 2009 original and the 2011 sequel 'Infamous 2' regarded as some of the best exclusives for the console, with 2014's 'Infamous: Second Son' also fondly regarded by fans.
The series has been idle since spin-off title 'First Light', which was released shortly after 'Second Son' in 2014.
'Sly Cooper' was Sucker Punch's first major success, with the games massive success for the Playstation 2 and regularly appearing on lists of best PlayStation 2 games.
Sucker Punch are hard at work on a new game, heavily implied to be a sequel to 2020's hit 'Ghost of Tsushima'.
The samurai adventure game was such a major hit that game director Nate Fox and Sucker Punch creative director Jason Connell were made permanent tourist ambassadors for the Japanese island.
'Ghost of Tsushima' served as a swan song for the PlayStation 4 when it launched in the summer of 2020, with the director's cut of the game available for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
Both PlayStation 3 'Infamous' games are available to stream for subscribers on the PlayStation Plus Premium tier.
