There is a lot to be said about the Star Wars franchise, and not all good, in fact some of it downright bad. The boys at Lucas Arts have a way of bringing you ground breaking visuals that are astounding and somehow cheapening them by, well, listening to their inner nerd a bit too much.

Unleashed suffers from this. The game is stunning, an optical masterpiece, sound effects and graphics are complemented by versatile A.I. and intelligent environments. But it suffers from bad dialogue and - as usual in the Star Wars Universe - annoying characters. Even "Starkiller" ( Worst Name Ever! - and I don't care that it was Anakin's original name, it's lame!!) struggles somewhat to convince that he is an unholy sith, he is more like a cranky teenager.

But having moaned all that out, this is not that bad, ironically I would think this will go down better with non Star Wars fanatics. As taken on its own, game play is quite riveting, if a little annoying.

It's difficult not to get excited about Star Wars releases given its history and potential, this can create an anti-climax. In this case I was both pleasantly surprised and slightly annoyed. Good, but not a keeper.
