Usually when a game's greatest strength is it's originality there's a chance it's lacking in some other, more fundamentally important area, be it in gameplay, graphics or overall presentation. If it's praised for being 'original', it's the idea and intent that's being commended and not the actual game itself. Spiderman, Shattered Dimensions, is original; but what's even better is the fact it's a thoroughly enjoyable comic book experience.

Shattered Dimensions could be construed as four games in one, or four different takes of the one game. In it the player takes control of not one Spidey, but four, each with its own unique strengths and abilities as it searches for the broken pierces of the tablet of order and chaos. But, most interesting of all, each is set in its own unique time; there's the present, 'ulitmate' Spiderman, there's a Spidey set hundreds of years in the future, an alternate, darker take on the present day Spiderman, and, best of all, a 'noir' version in which stealth, silent kills and darker streets contrast the colour of everything else around it.

The game benefits from constantly shifting from one world – or dimension – to the next, meaning the story remains fresh and enticing. Combat is simple but effective, with a neat shift to a first person view for key battles.

Suited more for a younger gamer than those that entered Batman's Arkham Asylum, but in a way that's this games greatest strength. It's just fun.
