Let's be honest, as a fan of the Alien movies, we've been kinda hard done by. Everything after Aliens back in 1986 just hasn't been good enough - Alien 3, Alien: Resurrection, those two god-awful Alien VS Predator movies, Prometheus - and the same can mostly be said for the tie-in video games to. Sitting on the throne of Alien-related crap was last year's god-awful game Aliens: Colonial Marines, which had most fans give up altogether on there ever being another good entry into the Alien franchise in any medium.

Then we got this:

Okay... We admit, we're trepidatiously excited. But we've had our heart broken before, and we're not sure we're strong enough to survive another disappointment, not least because it seems to raise a lot of questions. For anyone who hasn't watched the director's cut of Aliens, Ellen Ripley did indeed have a daughter, and here she is, Amanda, all growed up and looking for her mother. On the Nostromo. Which, if you remember correctly, Ripley Snr blew up at the end of Alien. So ... how is it here, altogether not blown up? And how is Ripley Jnr using a motion tracker from Aliens, which is set 57 years after Alien? SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. Lets get a word from the guys behind the game...

Well, that doesn't answer anything, but it does help get us a little bit more excited. These guys are obviously considering this a labor of love, focusing more on stealth and horror than balls-out action, and really bringing the Nostromo to finely-detailed life (albeit, still in one piece).

Due out around Christmas 2014, and seemingly only on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC (although expect that to change closer to the date, to include the PS4 and XBox One), we'll be keeping a close eye on this one.
