Earlier this week, Microsoft invited a select group of journalists from around Europe to secret location in London. All very hush hush, we gathered into what looks like an abandoned church, to find that inside they have set up row after row, and stall after stall with some of the brand new games that you can get your hands on once with X-Box One has been released on November 22nd, as well as a few others that are already out on current generations, as well as some that won't be out for a good while yet!

Please bear in mind that the videos below do not properly represent the looks of some of the games, as the finished products are properly outstanding things to behold, and a low-resolution YouTube clip doesn't fully get that across! Anyways, read on for our full impressions on what we've seen so far!

RYSE: SON OF ROME

Possibly the most awe-inspiring game of the day, there is only one word to describe Ryse: EPIC. The sense of scale is staggering, as you run around Ancient Rome, leading battalions to defend the emperor's palace from insurgents. The combat was visceral and violent, mixing God Of War's gore with Arkham Asylum's combination moves to great effect, and the whole thing was just beautiful to look at. This is definitely a must-buy when it's released day and date with the console on November 22nd.

DEAD RISING 3

Someone from Capcom was on-hand to guide is through this playthrough, telling us about the almost infinite variations of weapons, vehicles and costumes that the player can choose and customize to make each one feel individual. It also helps that the game was INSANELY fun, as you drive a flame-throwing stream-roller through a crowd of (literally) thousands of zombies. Again, the visuals were astounding, and the open-world even more filled with things to do and stuff to find. This is going to be one that you'll still be playing at 4am. Available from November 22nd.

FORZA 5

Straight of the bat, the above video clip doesn't do this game justice. Forza 5 on the Xbox One, and on a 1080p TV, will properly blow your mind. It's about as real looking as things can get without, ye know, it actually being reality. One of the people on hand to talk about the game actually designed the McLaren P1 – the ACTUAL car! – so you know they're taking this being as real as possible quite seriously. Everything from the physics engine, to the handling of the motors, to the sexy sounds those engines make will blow the minds of any racing game fans! Available from November 22nd.

KILLER INSTINCT

Originally released back in 1994, this 2D fighting game has been dragged into the 21st century with an eye-popping look and grade A-addictive gameplay. Starting off with six characters to choose from, each with their own unique fighting styles and advantages/disadvantages, one of the obvious highlights of Killer Instinct is that it is both tremendous fun for a first-time just giving it a go, and someone who is wanting to master the game, with scope for some truly staggering combos. The rep there spoke of a 100-hit move that needs to be seen to be believed! Available from November 22nd.

KINECT SPORTS RIVALS

Microsoft were also showing off their newly improved Kinect system, with a booth set up for Just Dance 2014 for those looking for a boogie, but there was also the new Sports games package. The level we played was the jet-ski race, with the Kinect perfectly responding to our commands and movements, and the game itself just being an absolute ball to play! There will be loads more sports to play with the game, for you to play by yourself, with a mate, at a Kinect party (come on, you know you want to have one!), or online. Available Summer 2014.

D4 (DARK DREAMS DON'T DIE)

Without a doubt the weirdest game of the day, D4 (which, aside from the elongated title, also stands for the 4th dimension) allows you to control a time-travelling detective who can use mementos to move back and forward in time to important moments in victim's lives. The visuals have come a long way from the above video, far more polished and over-the-top, and the level we played had us looking for clues and solving a mystery on board an airplane. Using the Kinect to control the character, this felt like a crazed version of Heavy Rain, with a far lighter tone, as we genuinely laughed out loud quite a few times. Available Spring 2014.

ZOO TYCOON

Another old game being given a current-gen polish, Zoo Tycoon will have a few different play modes, including a straight-ahead campaign, a free-roaming game (like the original versions) and some mini-games to play throughout. There is also talk of online community games which, if completed within the guidelines, Microsoft will then donate money towards certain charities or protected animal parks. So you'll be enjoying yourself AND doing something good! It's not very often you get to say that! Available November 22nd (also on Xbox 360)

Also on hand to play was the X-Box One versions of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Call Of Duty: Ghosts (available to buy on Xbox 360 now, reviews on entertainment.ie soon!), which helped to show off the gigantic leap forward that the new console has made in terms of visuals and fluidity of movements.

All in all, this selection of what will soon be available to players was hugely impressive, and made us want to rush out to buy the biggest, best TV we could afford so our hungry eyes could gobble up all the lush, visual gorgeousness. Keep an eye on entertainment.ie for a full review on the system itself, as well as the news and reviews on the games!
