We've been eagerly following Doom's progress and as its release date - May 13th - draws closer, we're getting pretty excited.

From what we've seen so far, Doom looks like a glorious return to the old run-'n-gun antics of yore where it was more about outshooting someone than it was about hiding behind cover and camping. In fact, the multiplayer trailer really underlined this with its frantic gameplay and the fact that you could pretty well melee someone by rushing straight at them.

An open Multiplayer beta is due for release next week from April 15th to April 18th. As to what's in the beta, you'll have a choice of both Team Deathmatch and Warpath on the Heatwave and Infernal maps. As well as this, the first DLC pack for Doom will be released at a cost of €14.99 and will feature three new maps, a new weapon, a new playable demon, a new armour set, a new piece of "equipment", some new hack modules and taunts as well as more customization colors and patterns.

The Season Pass will set you back €39.99, however it hasn't been confirmed how many DLC packs they're planning for Doom.

Doom's multiplayer beta is free and you can pick it up online pretty easily via your console's online store or through Bethesda's website on PC.

Here's that multiplayer trailer we mentioned earlier.
