Although 'Mortal Kombat X' and 'Mortal Kombat 11' has always been good with smaller DLC bundles, 'Aftermath' looks set to be something of a game-changer for the franchise.

In a virtual press conference earlier this week attended by entertainment.ie, 'Mortal Kombat' co-creator Ed Boon laid out the details of the very first story-continuation DLC in the franchise's history. The new chapter will take place directly after the events of 'Mortal Kombat 11' and sees Liu Kang - now the fire god - joining forces with none other than Shang Tsung as the fate of two worlds hangs in the balance.

Beyond the story mode expansion, 'Aftermath' also has three characters joining the roster - franchise favourites Sheeva and Fujin, and Robocop. Yes, Robocop. Voiced by Peter Weller, in fact.

As a free update, 'Mortal Kombat 11' players will also get Friendships added to the game, as well as Stage Fatalities and new arenas like the Klassic Dead Pool and the Soul Chamber from 'Mortal Kombat 3'.

The DLC goes on sale from May 26th, costing €39.99 or you can pick up the 'Aftermath Kollection' for €59.99 which has both the 'Aftermath' DLC, the Kombat Pack with characters such as Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, Terminator T-800, The Joker and Spawn, plus 25 additional skins for existingf characters.

Here's the trailer for 'Aftermath'.
